Wild Bird Wednesday & Nature Notes - Crested Pigeons

At the Port Augusta Arid Lands Botanical Gardens
the bird life was prolific

I have loads to post over a number of weeks

These crested pigeons were out for a stroll

attending to some adjustments in their plumage

and off on the strut again . . .

To the best of my knowledge, we don't have these here. They are strangely beautiful.

  8. They are lovely birds… here it has been a family of wild turkeys fascinating me and my family. There must be 18 or twenty of them and we've watched the young ones grow up all summer long.

  18. Splendid birds - I thought that I was just looking at a strange individual when I saw them first, the found a whole flock with the same "hair cut".

I used to live and work in the heart of Swallows and Amazons country - we used to take kids to explore some of the real islands that the islands in the books are based on - "Wild Cat Island" was just across the lake from us.
